We recently farewelled Mark Morton from Practical Systems. Mark has been the public face of the company for fourteen years serving as CEO, as member of the Board of Directors and most recently as Executive Director, Sales. Fourteen years is a large chunk out of anyone’s life and the company is deeply grateful for the energy and dedication that Mark devoted to the business and to our customers over that time. We wish him well with his return to consulting in his own capacity.
Compared to a year ago we seem to be entering a much more positive season in many locations – albeit not universally so. This may be a moment where herd and flock inventories will start to be replenished in order to improve breeding performance. At the same time, many people are thinking carefully about pasture management and about carrying capacity. At a more strategic level, the last year may have crystallised discussions about succession in family businesses.
At the same time, there seems to be a constant wave of new ‘ag-tech’. Practical Systems can help make sense of the technology landscape. If you’d like to find out how we might be able to help you in addressing the business challenges you are facing, contact Peter Rasmussen on 0418 177 282 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Back in the farm operations business
Farmbook has been a well known product from Practical Systems for many years. We’re updating the platform to meet the needs of today’s operating systems and mobile technologies.
Farmbook 2.0 is coming soon. This will be a revitalised but simpler version of Farmbook providing cloud data storage on a mobile device platform. Initially suitable for android devices only but also with a PC/web-browser version, Farmbook 2.0 will let you manage paddocks and crops, mob movements, chemical and materials storage, while you are on the move.
Stay tuned to our social media channels for launch, pricing and availability.
In various ways recently we have tried to let you know that we were starting to change a number of our business processes aimed at improving security of your access to programs and data. We’re pleased to say that the pilot of these changes has been successful. While we have had some glitches, these changes have generally been implemented successfully and given us the green light to continue to roll out to other products.
We’ll be starting to advise changes to access procedures for our Cashbook and Stockbook products in the coming weeks and months. Look out for information via email on how these changes might impact you.
We will also continue to streamline our invoicing and payment processes by moving these online. If you need to update your email details with us or if you experience any issues or problems with the changing arrangements, please contact us at email@example.com
